No matter how many positive things you do, some things just bog you down.
Want to rank better on Google?
1. Outdated content – yank it! Google wants fresh content. Google has way too much content.
Pro tip: Go to Google’s search console. Look at your traffic, where it’s going, where it’s been. Last year vs. today. Some pages did well and aren’t now. For a page that was doing well, it helps to rank. Give them a refresh!
2. Short pages. Pages need more than 500 words on each page, otherwise, they won’t be ranked. Review your pages, if they’re less than 500 words, add to them! If they’re short and you can’t build on them, 301 redirect them to another page. It will increase your traffic, time on page, etc.
3. Provide a great experience! Look at other pages for the term you’re talking about. Go to ubersuggest.com, type in the keyword, and in the right-hand column it shows the pages they rank and their info. This will help to identify what users and Google likes. Use this to come up with a great quality content page.
4. Irrelevant internal links. Don’t overdo internal linking! Be smart and careful. If it doesn’t help users, do not implement internal links.
5. Don’t overdo duplicate content. Publish new and unique content. You can use sources and info from other sites, just make sure your content is new and fresh. Don’t talk about the same thing that everyone else is writing about. Even if it’s unique will not provide value and you won’t rank on google.
